November 15

Today was a fabulous day in Room 2! Students reflected on their Glenbow visit yesterday. They began to create an I see, I think, I wonder page in their visual journals. We worked on finishing up work during Montessori work period. Today we had music! Ask me about it. In Math, we began working on creating examples of our strategies for our math wall in the classroom. Don't forget to sign up for parent teacher conferences. They are this upcoming Thursday evening and Friday. If you're having troubles signing up, please contact the office and they can help.

November 13

Hello everyone, today was a great day. Some people finished their Social Studies Timeline. This afternoon we had a lockdown. Ask me about it! We had gym this afternoon. Room 2 had to review the safety rules in gym. Tomorrow is our Glenbow Field trip. Please arrive on time. Remember to bring a lunch. We have been asked to not bring our backpacks. The bus leaves at 8:20.

Nov. 12

Hello Everybody, Today was a great day to learn. We had picture retakes today. In Math we worked on another number talk and we looked at representing numbers. Students were encouraged to use Montessori Materials to show how they would represent the number they were working on. Room 2 worked on their poppy writing. We got to do a self assessment and began to hang our work on the wall. We hung up the Grade 4's French backpacks. Room 2 had library this afternoon. Don't forget to check your online account for the field trip fees. Our field trip is this Thursday.

November 8th

Hello Everyone, today was a good day! This morning we did a number talk. We are focusing on decomposing and recomposing numbers as well as making 10s or friendly numbers. Students were provided a poppy to wear for our assembly. We had our Remembrance Day assembly. We had to be silent for 2 minutes and we could not clap after the Grade 5 and 6 presentations. Mr. Litchfield was wearing his uniform and read a poem to the school. We got to teach Ms. Nielsen how to play splat. Please remember there is no school on Monday.

Volunteers Needed for Book Fair

Volunteers Needed for Book Fair We are pleased to be offering a book fair again this year over Parent Teacher Conferences. We are looking for parent volunteers who would be interested in helping set up the book fair, as well as some parents to help with the book fair while it is running. If you are able to volunteer during any of the time slots below we would greatly appreciate it! Remembrance Day Assembly (Grade 5/6 led)

Our Remembrance Day Assembly will be held this Friday at 10:30 am.  We welcome families to attend. Poppies will be available as you enter the school and we thankfully welcome any poppy donations. As you may already know, the Students In Action Club is holding a food drive for the Veteran Food Bank.  If you would like to make a donation to aid in showing our school community's generosity and appreciation, you may bring a non-perishable food item to the assembly or send it with your child on or before Friday, November 15th.  

Nov. 5th

Hello everyone! This morning Room 2 went outside into the garden to do a thought page on the rose hips. Ask me about it! Today we worked on our Social Studies timeline of Alberta. We began our reading groups today. Students have guided reading books they are bringing home. As they finish them, they can return them and exchange for two or three more. When they are reading the books at home, please have the students do the reading and ask them different questions about what they have read. Please remember to return your field trip forms.

Food Drive

Hello Parents and Families!   The LBS Students In Action Club is organizing a food drive this year, in order to help make a positive change in peoples’ lives.     All donations will be given to the Veteran Food Bank. We will be collecting non-perishable food items until Friday, November 15 th . Our goal is to collect   500 food items!  Please support our food drive and help show our appreciation and generosity to those who have served in the Canadian Forces.   The Students in Action Club

Hello everyone. Today was a good learning day. This morning in Math, we did a number talk that focused on decomposing and recomposing numbers. We then got to build a number with our table groups. In Social Studies, we looked at making a copy of our template so we can do our display. We played snakes in the grass in gym. We were given our new seating assignments today. Today we had library. Ask me about music. Please remember to bring back your field trip forms.
