Sept. 10

We did more work on our Math Workshop. Students discussed their strategies for creating the number scale and determining how they came up with amount of items sold on Friday along with the cost in the book we read yesterday.

We have started Communities in Our World for Social Studies. The class did a picture walk. They were asked to look for differences within the different pictures that showed different communities from all over the world. We brainstormed the different observations they made. Students were then asked to create a title page.

We had fun playing a tag game called Great Wall of China in gym. The Grade 4's taught the Grade 3's how to play the game. It was great to see the students working as a team to make the game work and problem solve.

During Work Period students were successful in working independently and completing work. We began our problem of the week today. Students are given an open ended math problem that they can work on throughout the week. This week's is based on graphing. There are seven questions to go along with the main question. We will continue to work on this tomorrow.

Students were provided with a new writing prompt today. The writing prompt is "I can't imagine life without...." Students had a fun time brainstorming things they can't live without and creating a class example of how to begin our writing.

Have a great evening!
