Oct. 1st

Today we worked on Social Studies. We got these pieces of paper that told us about a different town or city in Alberta. They described some of the natural resources and how the town or city developed around the resources. We had a class discussion and we are now working on a visual journal page about how we show empathy for the land and our resources. We were put into random groups and we got to work with different peers for this activity.

In Math we did a quiz. It was mainly about patterning, addition and subtraction. The Grade 4's also looked at multiplication and division.

During work period we got to be the teacher by editing a paragraph that Ms. Nielsen wrote. We worked on our word work, problem of the week and Grade 4's worked on their French backpacks.

We had picture day today. Everyone had their picture taken. Room 2 did an awesome job with their group picture!

Grade 3's, please remember to bring in headphones tomorrow. 

There is a note coming home. Please make sure your family gets it.

 Don't forget that tomorrow is Twin day! Lake Bonavista School is participating in Netball from February 3-7 h  in our gymnasium. This sport involves foundational movement skills such as jumping, running, throwing, and catching. As described on the Netball Alberta website ( www.netballalberta.com ): “Netball is an exciting, fast and skillful game of fair contest: It is a game in which two teams of seven players each strive to keep or gain possession of the ball. Players have specified areas in which they can move.”  Parent Council has graciously provided the funding to bring this event into our school. January 24th, 2020

Today we continued working on our bridge redesign. We have been following the engineering process beginning with our problem of building a bridge that can hold 1kg to cross a 50cm 'river' then moving to brainstorming solutions, designing using a blueprint and materials list, then building and testing whether it was able to solve the problem. Now that we have discovered that all of our bridges can hold even more than 1 kg, we are redesigning to make them as strong as we are able. We are reflecting on what we learned from testing, researching answers to questions we still have and looking at examples of bridges in real life as we reflect on how we can make our bridges even stronger. We will create a blueprint showing how we will adjust and alter our bridges to reflect new understandings. We will begin adjusting out bridges next week, students may need to collect additional materials at this time.

September 5th

Today was another crazy busy day. During work period, Grade 4's worked on the French alphabet.  Grade 3 and 4's worked on finishing their summer writing, time capsule and math. We began to write three truths and a fib. We are trying to trick our classmates by making our fib less obvious. In Math we looked at making a graph about our favourite hockey teams. Students enjoyed brainstorming all the hockey teams. We chose a few of them. Then voted on our favourites. Grade 3 and 4 then had time to work on their graphing survey and begin to graph their data. Friday September 6 is Blue day at LBS. Please remember to wear something blue and white. Don't forget that we have early dismissal on Fridays. Our Friday dismissal is at 12:15.
